Anti-Bullying Policy

1. Statement of Intent

NAJM is committed to providing a safe, caring, and respectful environment where every child can learn without fear. Bullying of any kind—physical, verbal, or online—is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

2. Definition of Bullying

We define bullying as repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another, where there is an imbalance of power.

● Physical: Hitting, kicking, or taking property.
● Verbal: Name-calling, teasing, or spreading rumours.
● Emotional: Excluding someone from games or social groups.
● Cyberbullying: Hurtful messages or posts on social media.

3. Reporting Procedures

Because NAJM Management meets weekly, prompt reporting is critical.

● For Pupils: If you are bullied or see it happening, tell a teacher or a trusted adult immediately. Do not wait until the next session.
● For Parents: Report concerns to the [Headteacher/Coordinator] via [email/phone] as soon as you become aware of them.
● For Staff: All staff must record reported incidents immediately in the school’s incident log and inform the designated lead.

4. Responding to Bullying

Our school will follow these steps for every report:

1. Safety First: Ensure the target feels safe and supported.
2. Investigation: Interview all parties separately to establish facts.
3. Parental Involvement: Inform parents of both the target and the perpetrator on the same day the incident is identified.
4. Resolution: Use restorative conversations to repair relationships when appropriate.
5. Sanctions: Consequences will depend on the severity and may include warnings, loss of break time, or—in serious cases—temporary or permanent exclusion.

5. Preventative Measures

● Ethos: We celebrate diversity through our curriculum and assemblies.
● Supervision: Staff will actively monitor “hot spots” like toilets and playgrounds during breaks.
● Education: We teach children to be “upstanders” rather than bystanders.
